Hate sales?

Over the long weekend, I stumbled upon a friend whom I haven't seen for a long time. When we discussed our current situations (life happenings, work, updates etc.), he reminded me that I once said (and I still believe) that as a techie,  I do not want to do sales (and related activities) when I graduate. Pondering upon what I'm doing right now, I realize that hey, I'm doing exactly what I once thought I hated to do and it's not bad at all. It's all about the numbers baby! Wink

i don't need to be wanted, i want to be needed!

i don't need to be wanted, i want to be needed! - a bunch of words that may have different meaning depends on how it is used and who uses it. Something that I stumbled upon, including all this thoughts that bother me recently.

A few days ago, I got a text message from a recent graduate with simple, but kind words of thank you. She was a student when I met her during one of the days I volunteered my self as a panelist for defenses in various subjects in my college alma matter. She explained she was thankful for the help she received and that they have already graduated. I never expected to receive this note, but I am happy that I did. It was a heart-warming message to read amidst my confuzzled status right now because of things that bothers me. At least some people do appreciate what I've done for them, though I really never expected that something so little, like donating time to help for things like this, may mean something more to others.

I want to go to Tech-Ed 2008

I was invited to participate in this event, but I need to pay my own travel and accomodation. Still pondering if I should go or not because I think the opportunity given doesn't come everyday. Too bad I shelled out already for a summit and my last trip. Sigh! Disappointed

Life is unpredictable

A college classmate met a high school classmate and are now together; colleagues finally making it without you; people who do not work hard getting things and reaping fruits you envy out - doesn't these make you think life is unfair?

I stumbled upon numerous things that made me think of the past recently: I got in contact with a friend I haven't talked to for a while who is now working for a partner company, crossed paths with former classmates in high school and college I haven't said hi for the longest time, and heard good news straight from people who were once just like me, dreaming in things in life, that they finally got what we all wished for. This made me stop and think over things - what have I been doing with my life?

From the things I've enumerated above, it seems I'm the only one left behind. Everyone is in good hands or up to a new challenge, and here I am sitting, still dreaming and trying, doings things and waiting for a miracle as answer to things I've wished for. Sad

I missed my old friends, I miss my old life, I regret every single opportunity I turned down to be with them because I have something else to do. It's all coming back to me now, like a ghost hunting me down wherever I am, things of the past are showing signs everywhere which seems to remind me of one thing - I've been doing things wrongfully, like telling me to backtrack and think things over again, and maybe this time you will do just the right thing...

I'm a happy x61 Tablet user!

I recently got a Lenovo ThinkPad x61 Tablet. The specs are the following:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo L7700 LV (1.8GHz, 4MB L2, 800MHz FSB)
12.1" MultiView + MultiTouch WVA XGA TFT, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna
Windows Vista Business x64 upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate x64
160GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
Intel Turbo Memory 1GB
Integrated Bluetooth PAN
Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (supporting Centrino Pro)
ThinkPad X61 Tablet 8 Cell Li-Ion Battery
ThinkPad X6 Tablet UltraBase with DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim

One downside is that it is a sub-notebook/tablet. Optical drive is optional (hence my Ultrabase docking station). I can opt for USB DVDRW for portability. I'm used to this, however, because I was previously using my ASUS S5N which is also a sub-notebook.

Back!

After the long vacation, hiatus in flight due to delays and flight "bump offs" in middle of nowhereB, I'm now back, alive and kickin'! Happy days are o'er y'all! Tongue out

Uber-Excited!

I'm uber-excited right now. I'll be off to run away from stress and think of things. See you when I see you!
February 22

me.StressLevel = High

I feel stressed right now. If you happen to see me these days, you would see me smiling and think things are perfectly normal, but with all honestly - they are not. I also have this feeling of frustration over things that are happening. This either has to stop, fix by itself, or I should let go now - for good... Thinking

Back and alive!

I just wanted to say hi and that I'm still alive! I just came back from an offsite team planning and things are back to normal (abnormal) again!

Reminiscing the old days

I've been in touch with a lot of my classmates in college whom I haven't seen nor heard from for quite a long time. It's nice to hear a lot of them are doing good. Job promotions, company incentives, better jobs, etc. - I've heard them all. There are also "not so nice stories" of my friends in between jobs, ended contracts and thoe who are not happy with their jobs. The saddest part I heard today is that my bes is leaving the country (probably for good) and I haven't seen her personally in almost 2 years! Now I begin to feel one of my colleague's feeling before of being left out or alone. Sad

Maybe I've been too busy with a lot of things and haven't given so much attention this. Perhaps some way or another they have felt I rarely try to find time just to be with them. Sigh... Confused

Just thinking out loud.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Back in Manila but sad.

I just came back a couple of days ago from Cebu.

Yesterday we're supposed to celebrate the Immaculate Conception and Christmas Party of our Catholic Community but we weren't able to attend and it turned out to be a sad day for us in our family. Sad

Long weekend in Puerto del Sol

My family just got back tonight from Puerto del Sol Beach Resort in Bolinao, Pangasinan to spend the long weekend and (delayed) celebration of my mom's birthday. It took a-6 hour drive (8 including stop overs) but it was well worth it.

Bangkok Trip

I just got back a couple of days ago from a short personal trip in Bangkok with julie and my mom. It was fun and exciting. We went to Crystal Grill (82nd floor) and revolving observation deck (84th floor) in Baiyoke Sky, Wat Trimitr (The Golden Buddha), Wat Pho (The Temple of Reclining Buddha), Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn), The Grand Palace, Wat Pra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), Wat Benchamabopith (The Marble Temple), Loy Kratong Festival Celebration, Pratunam Market and nearby shopping malls, Wan Fah Dinner Cruise, Dream World and Calypso Cabaret Show among others.  The Thai massage was indeed relaxing and one of the best! Exam 70-121: Designing and Providing Microsoft Volume License Solutions to Small and Medium Business

I took Exam 70-121: Designing and Providing Microsoft Volume License Solutions to Small and Medium Business last Friday and luckily passed it. It's my first non-technical exam and for someone like me coming from a technical background, licensing is really one hell of a monster by itself.

Too bad there's no title for someone who passed any of the licensing exam, aside from becoming an MCP if it's your first Embarrassed

I'm sure some people are gonna react to this blog post. Anyway, Pinoy Big Brother - Celebrity Edition 2 commenced today and I'm excited as usual. New house interior (which I find so nice), more twists & plots, and of course, interesting set of housemates. Too bad I won't be able to watch the new afternoon show "Pinoy Big Brother - Celebrity Edition 2, UBER!" which will air 5:30pm weekdays due to working times. Maybe I'll just catch up with the primetime slot at 10:00pm. Tongue out

Transitioning to a new role (again)

People know I have used many role titles for the past few months (or years) in my current organization. Just a few months ago, I again made a move from being a Partner Technology Specialist to a Technology Specialist in our local SMS&P segment, focused on key accounts. This makes working for Microsoft exciting, you never get bored because you are always doing new stuffs. Nerd

Back in Manila

I just arrived a few hours ago and I still feel sleepy. I haven't slept well yet due to flight turbulence and people laughing and talking out loud in the plane. It was sad for me to leave a place that served my home for more than a week and I have to admit, I fell in love with the city. Will miss you KL! :)

Pasig River Ferry Cruise

My mom, Julie and I today went out for the Ferry Service that goes from Guadalupe, Makati to Escolta, Manila. They have a promo of only 25pesos every weekend and since we haven't tried it yet, we decided to give it a go as a first time experience. We parked somewhere in the sidestreet near the Guadalupe station and rode the ferry to Escolta.

More pictures at my Multiply site.

It was around 30-45 minutes ride. We were hungry when we arrived in Escolta so we walked further to Chinatown and grabbed something to eat. We went back right after lunch to the ferry station to go back to Guadalupe. If you haven't tried it, you should while there are not a lot of people knows about it yet. Hopefully next time there will be a tour service with a guide and some snacks onboard. Wink

At last!

For the past few years, I've been hesitant to sign up for an account in Windows Live Spaces. During it's early stages, I honestly was quite skeptical that this engine will kick the butt. Just a few months after inception it became one of the most popular blog spaces on the planet, though I still didn't sign up because I'm not a person who signs up for an account in a well-known site late when the others are already in the wagon - I always wanted to be one of the first.

What I'm thinking right now is to finally retire my theSpoke blog which I loved and cared for in years. I didn't want to but I have to do it. This site will be my personal space and I will still keep my technical space in Microsoft Philippines Community Site. I hope I'm not that late and I'm still welcome here! Wink
